Create a title block drawing and add the attribute definitions.
Title Blocks are essential sheets of information in your project that display details about your company, the client, the project and revisions. In the November From AutoCAD to Revit webinar, I shared my favorite tips and tricks for converting AutoCAD Title Blocks into Revit Title Block Families. First, we’ll go through the steps for actually. Creating a Title Block with Attributes in AutoCAD. One of the things that every drawing needs is a title block. This provides vital information about the drawing when it is printed. Some of the data that makes up a title block is who draw it, what day it was published, revision number, etc. Every drawing at the professional level will have one. Title Blocks in AutoCAD – R Greenlee Page 1 Chapter 6 – Title Blocks In previous exercises, every drawing started by creating a number of layers. This is time consuming and unnecessary. In this exercise, we will start a drawing by defining layers and making a number of useful settings then we will save the file. For AutoCAD, Microstation etc.) In this section you will find FREE Title Blocks that you can use in your projects (free for personal and commercial use). These files can be freely distributed but only in their original form, the filename(s) must include the following: www.YourSpreadsheets.co.uk.
The title block is a border drawing inserted as an AutoCAD block on another drawing. The title block border drawing can be inserted as a block on an AutoCAD drawing template file. If your drawing title block consists of an AutoCAD block with attributes, AutoCAD Electrical can link to it.
- Start a blank new drawing and draw your border using standard AutoCAD commands and objects.
Or
- Open ACADE_TITLE_BORDER.DWG in Users{username}DocumentsAcade {version}AedataProjAegs. This drawing contains a sample border without any of the attribute definition objects.
- Zoom in for attribute definition placement.
- Enter ATTDEF at the command prompt to insert attribute definition objects. Note:When the border drawing is inserted as a block on another drawing, attribute definition objects become attributes.
- Enter the Tag name SH#.
- Set any other attribute definition properties and values, such as text style, height, and justification.
- Select OK.
- Specify the insertion point.
- Repeat for each attribute definition for the title block as shown.
- Enter SAVEAS at the command prompt.
- Enter File name:acade_title.
- Select Files of type:AutoCAD Drawing (*.dwg)
- Click Save.

A Little About Why I’m Giving the blocks out for free:
I was working on a freelance project for a regular client of mine just adding the finishing touches to the title block before sending it off to him when I had a thought. Why don’t you see more title block options available online especially free ones?
Now I understand that people don’t normally like to give away their secrets especially their uniqueness that is a title block. But still…
Why not share them a little more often with your fellow CAD users and peers? So as I was thinking about this I decided F#$% it I’ve wanted to make new templates for my freelance drawings, why not give away my current ones for free? I’ve used these 8.5×11 templates since just after I started doing small freelance jobs on my own. I only use these for my 8.5×11 work since these projects are primarily just small Reno jobs, garages etc. that are just for the city construction permits. They’re in both Landscape and Portrait, and I’ve pasted them into the layout for you as well as included them in model space if you’d like to change them or anything.
